Dec 1, 2010 7 PM R.J. Grey Library
MCAS Presentation
On next Wednesday, Dec. 1st at 7:00 pm in the Junior High Library, the AB SpEd
PAC will host a presentation by our own William Guthlein on MCAS. Bill has done
a tremendous job analyzing our district's recent performance on MCAS by school
looking at aggregate student performance as well as the performance of students
with special needs.
Come learn about the powerful new Student Growth Percentile metric that the
state is now sharing with families in each student's annual MCAS report. This is
a great opportunity to learn more about the MCAS before your child takes the
next test in March.
In particular, Bill's presentation will provide an explanation of key MCAS
statistical measures such as Student Growth Percentile (SGP) and Composite
Performance Index (CPI); a review of Acton Public Schools and Acton-Boxborough
Regional Schools MCAS performance for all students in aggregate as well as the
special education student subgroup; a comparison of local districts' student
performance with other peer communities; and a review of student MCAS
performance at each of the Acton elementary schools.
As a Harvard Business School grad and avid data analyst Bill is a treasure trove
of information. It should be a great evening. I hope you'll join us!
