Sensory Integration Presentation - On Tuesday, April 13th, 2010 at 7:00 pm in
the Parker Damon Library, the AB SpEd PAC will host a presentation on Sensory
Processing Disorder by Deborah Bauch, M.S., OTR/L of the Astra Foundation.
Is your child sensitive to noise or bright lights? Does he/she dislike touching
certain sticky materials like glue? Does your child love to play with sand and
water or like to bump and crash things? Does he/she dislike having their teeth
brushed or hair combed? Do tags or tight fitting clothes bother him/her? All of
these things may be signs that your child has some sensory processing issues. If
you're wondering whether or not your child's behavior is typical, join us this
evening to learn more about Sensory Integration issues.
Deborah's presentation will give an overview of the different aspects of sensory
processing: regulation, sensory modulation, motor planning and praxis. She will
review difficulties and typical behaviors in children with poor sensory
processing and discuss treatment for sensory processing disorders as well as
carry over into home and school. A portion of the evening will be devoted to
answering questions from parents. So think about and jot down any questions you
may have for Deborah.
