May 30th

Special Education Law: Children with Aspergers Syndrome – This presentation is sponsored by the Aspergers Assoc. of New England (AANE) & presented by Mass. Advocates for Children. This is an evening with attorney Julia Landau to highlight recent laws for ASD children and to provide participants with time to ask about their specific issues. Do you have a child with Aspergers Syndrome? Is the school refusing to write an IEP for your child because they are progressing from grade to grade? Is your child making it through the school day just to melt down when they get home? Is your school only offering a 504 plan for your child with Aspergers? What is the school’s responsibility to your child under these circumstances? This workshop will help you understand the rights and procedures, which ensure children with ASD receive educational opportunities which reflect competency and potential. The workshop will emphasize specific legal requirements, which ensure that children with ASD receive education services to meet their unique needs and allow them to reach their potential. This event is free, however registration is required (20 registrants required by May 18th). The event will be held at the Watertown Public Library, 123 Main Street, Watertown, MA. 7-9 PM.  To register call Lisa at (617) 393-3824 x 0.
