How Difficult Can This Be? F.A.T City Workshop Video Presentation – This event is offered by the Groton-Dunstable SpEd PAC and will take place Dec. 12th from 7:00-9:00 PM at the Groton-Dunstable High School Library at 703 Chicopee Row, Groton. F.A.T stands for Frustration, Anxiety, Tension – three all too-familiar feelings for children with learning disabilities. In this workshop Dr. Richard Lavoie, a nationally recognized expert, shows why the classroom can be an intimidating place for these children. He leads a “group “ of parents, educators, psychologists, and children through a series of exercises that cause frustration, anxiety and tension (his role in the video being that of the teacher and the “group being that of children with learning disabilities). By dramatizing the classroom experience so vividly, Dr. Lavoie lets us see the world through the eyes of a child. At the end of the workshop, participants from the “group” discuss strategies for working more effectively with learning disabled children. There will be ample time for discussion by workshop attendees following the video presentation. This is a practical, educational and inspirational presentation for ALL parents, educators, paraprofessionals and administrators – a “must see.” For more information and directions contact Nancy Bugbee at ntbugbee@charter.net or visit www.gdspedpac.org.
