Here is the recommended time line for those children who are in EI and transitioning into the Public Schools. (Provided by FCSN):

By age 2yr. 6mo.

Due Date

Actual Date

1) Referral    
2) Notice sent within 5 days    
3) Consent signed - Timeline Begins    
4) Pre-assessment meeting (optional)    
5) Evaluation within 30 school days    
6) Request written summaries
(should get at least 2 days before meeting)
   

By age 2yr. 9mo.

 

 

7) Team meeting 90 days before birthday    
8) IEP received by parent within 45 days of signed consent    
9) IEP draft received at meeting    
10) Parent review IEP for up to 30 days    
11) Parents accept or reject part of IEP
*DO NOT REJECT FIRST IEP IN FULL
   

If eligible, at age 3 years:

 

 

12) Child receives Special Education Program    

Notes: Although unusual, the IFSP may be used for one year during transition. If your child has a birthday between April and September, you may want an early referral. It is also possible in rare circumstances to have the school continue EI support on an IEP with the school paying for services.
