AB SpEd PAC Volunteer OpportunitiesIt takes all of us together giving what time we can to make a difference in our childrens lives and education. We need your help and ideas to make the PAC as vital and effective as it can be. There are many tasks both large and small that we currently need help with. We know how busy everyone is and will be respectful of your time limitations. I encourage you to jump in and get your feet wet at whatever level you feel comfortable. Remember the old saying, Many hands make light work!1. School PTO/Parent Liaison (Attend PTO meetings and share PAC activities with the PTO and PTO activities with the PAC those that affect children with special needs.) 2. PAC Representative to School Committee (Attend School Committee meetings and report back to PAC regarding special education related info/activities.) 3. Meeting Publicity (Can be done at home draft PAC meeting announcements and/or email them to local publications all contact info. provided) 4. Meeting Room Reservations (Can be done at home coordinate presentation dates with speakers and Community Ed.; mail brief reservation form to Community Ed. we have 2-3 presentations a year and monthly PAC meetings.) 5. Creating a Special Education Family Survey (Attend meeting with interested parties and/or coordinate survey content by email with interested parties over next month.) 6. General Help (Copying, running errands, etc. occasionally as needed.) 7. Website Design/Update (Can be done at home help with site redesign or post new information to website template available.) 8. Help with Electronic Newsletter (Can be done at home create a 1-2 page monthly newsletter template available.) 9. Help with Weekly Event Calendar (Can be done at home create a weekly special education event calendar to share local activities local event info.& template available.) 10. Help Manage/Moderate Email Lists (Can be done at home requires adding new people to the email list and approving/rejecting emails and moderating discussion.) 11. Planning Social Events/Fundraisers (Help plan a single, annual social event/fundraiser) 12. Researching/Writing Grant Applications (Look into funding opportunities for the PAC have contacts available) 13. Be a Task Force Member (Special Education Parent Handbook contribute to content and review of new Special Education Parent Handbook about half done) |
