Preparing for Your Child's IEP Meeting - March 6th, 2008. This interactive
workshop will help you prepare for productive and collaborative Individualized
Education Program (IEP) meetings. Using materials developed by the Charles and
Helen Schwab Foundation, the workshop will provide guidance in these topic
areas: an overview of the IEP process, including your role as a parent; things
you can do before, during, and after the meeting to make it successful; the
Massachusetts IEP form-a template explaining each section and tips for building
an effective plan; what makes IEP goals effective, and how to monitor those
goals; a glossary of frequently used educational terms; effective ways to talk
with family and friends about your child's learning problems; how to talk with
your elementary-age child about his learning difficulties; and recommended
resources, including books, articles, and websites. The Boxboro Special
Education PAC is sponsoring this presentation by Michelle Amato, a certified
special education advocate and trainer. The workshop will take place on March 6,
2008 from 9:00am-11:30am in the Sargent Memorial Library in Boxborough. Please
RSVP by email to Laura Estrada at happyreaders22@yahoo.com so that we may
prepare a packet of materials for you. |
