Yelling Doesn’t Work! What You Can Do to Help a Child Comply at Home and in the Classroom Using Positive Behavior Supports – On Wednesday, June 6th from 7:00-9:00 PM the Down Syndrome Support Group is sponsoring this presentation at St Anne’s Church Hall (Father Smith Center) in Shrewsbury located at 130 Boston Turnpike (Rte. 9E). Yelling doesn’t teach the necessary skills a child needs to learn in order to comply. This workshop provides insight into why a child misbehaves and how changing your behavior will in turn change theirs. Learn to recognize the function of behavior and how a front-end approach will show results. Functional Assessments, which are at the heart of a Positive Behavior Support Plan, are discussed at length and sample plans are provided. Rebecca Goniwich will present this workshop in collaboration with The Federation for Children with Special Needs. RSVP by June 2nd to Diane at (508) 885-6835 or Debbie at (508) 792-1979 or email Frostfam33@hotmail.com.
