The Acton/Boxborough Special Education Parent Advisory Council is proud to host Sarah Ward, M.S., CCC/SLP on Wednesday evening, Feb. 28th at 7:00 PM in Auditorium at Acton-Boxborough Regional High School located at 36 Charter Road in Acton. Are you fed up with constant homework monitoring, your child’s missing homework and poor time management skills? Sarah will discuss how executive function skills impact children’s day-to-day lives, including social and academic activities. She will discuss specific strategies to help parents and educators assist in increasing children’s: initiation of tasks, self-regulation, ability to internalize and assess the passage of time, organization of information and materials, and development of inferential reasoning and evaluative thinking skills. If you have never heard Sarah Ward speak, don’t miss this dynamic and informative speaker! Ms. Ward has over 14 years of experience in diagnostic evaluations, treatment and case management of children, adolescents, and adults with a wide range of developmental and acquired brain-based, learning difficulties. She has held numerous leadership positions in her field, as well as worked for NASA teaching robots executive functioning skills for the Mars program. This program is free and open to the public. Sarah is the immediate Past President of the Massachusetts Brain Injury Association. She is also a member of the Massachusetts Acquired Brain Injury Advisory Board, the National Institutes of Health Model Systems Traumatic Brain Injury Grant Advisory Board and a member of the American Speech and Language Hearing Association. In addition, she holds an adjunct faculty appointment at the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions. She has worked for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) teaching executive function skills to robots for the Mars program.
